How We Make
We love the idea of supporting our local manufacturers and suppliers. We’ve got beautiful wools from one of the UK’s oldest mills nestled in Yorkshire, our wood is locally sourced and FSC certified, and our legs are designed and individually hand-turned by Phil, (our Wood Man extraordinaire) right here in Manchester, England. You could say, we’re ‘hyper-local’ in our approach.
Here’s why we like this…
- It gives you a better product with longevity and reliability. We have control over where our materials come from and can easily connect with the makers, suppliers and you the glorious customer.
- When you support us by buying our furniture, you support our community. You help to keep heritage skills such as woodworking and upholstery alive.
- Our carbon footprint is naturally low due to the low mileage our materials travel.
- We always have one eye on the environment and keep waste to an absolute minimum. Our foam off-cuts travel a short distance back to the supplier to be recycled and we keep our packaging to a minimum, re-using any old bubble wrap and cardboard we can get our hands on! This is mostly donated by our local deli, which also sells deliciously warm Pain au Chocolat!
Our confidence in the way we work means we’re happy to offer a Lifetime Guarantee for our furniture frames.
This guarantee is valid for domestic use only, and covers loose joints, and timber breakage. It does not include issues resulting from normal wear and tear, improper care, or accidental damage. This does not affect your statutory legal rights.
Exclusive to buyers of Twisted Loom furniture is the Re-dazzle service. Re-Dazzle does just that, it re-dazzles! If at some point you fancy a different fabric, then we’ll collect, re-upholster and return your piece. Get in touch to discuss your requirements and enjoy 20% off our usual re-upholstery rate.
This service drives our aim to become a Sufficiency-style Business. This model aims to moderate overall resource consumption by making quality products that last longer, avoid built-in obsolescence, and re-connect the maker and the consumer. For more info, please get in touch.
